The Jeju Wheelchair Basketball Club is a professional-level team that competes in Korea’s national wheelchair basketball league. Its roster includes players from across Jeju Island who balance regular jobs with daily training.
Practices are held at a local gym, where players bring and maintain their own chairs. Equipment upkeep is one of their biggest costs — tires, bearings, and seating frames wear down quickly, especially during travel. Away games usually involve ferries to the mainland, which adds expense and fatigue.
Despite those challenges, the team continues to attract younger players and volunteers. Members often visit schools to hold demonstration games and disability awareness sessions. For many in Jeju, the club is the main example of inclusive, competitive sport.
